The Centre for Digital Humanities (CDH) at the Aga Khan University’s Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations (AKU-ISMC) will host a specialised workshop on Corpus Building, with particular focus on the curation and structuring of the OpenITI corpus. The workshop will take place on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, at the Aga Khan Centre in London.
This hands-on workshop is designed for researchers, digital humanists, and scholars working with Arabic and Islamicate texts who are interested in corpus development, text encoding standards and metadata practices. Participants will explore best practices in corpus curation, quality control, collaborative editing, and long-term preservation, while also engaging in practical discussions about current challenges and future directions for OpenITI.
The workshop aims to foster collaboration across disciplines and to strengthen the scholarly community engaged in digital text initiatives. It will provide a space for knowledge exchange, skill-building, and networking among researchers working at the intersection of digital humanities and Arabic.
